Jessica C. Wheeler is an author and poet and based in Branford, Connecticut, where she lives with her husband and two young daughters. Her work is known for its lyrical voice, satirical edge, and an instinct for the well-timed twist. 

Rooted in poetry, Jessica brings a sense of lyricism to prose, blending humor, tension, and emotional sharpness into narratives that linger long after the page. Her debut short story collection, She’s Fine, offers a series of intimate portraits of modern womanhood, exploring the private reckonings, quiet absurdities, and unspoken negotiations that shape daily existence (because nothing says "thrilling" like the quiet desperation of keeping it together). These stories, like much of her work, are defined by an interest in the unseen effort required to maintain composure in a world that seldom acknowledges it.

Over the years, Jessica’s work has earned recognition across poetry and literary platforms. Publications include The Connecticut Bards Poetry Review (2025), Grief Dialogues, Poetry Festival, and multiple anthologies. She was named a Recognized Writer by FanStory.com in 2024 and ranked as one of the site’s top poets of 2023. Her piece Beneath the Tranquil Sheen was selected as Poem of the Month on Poetry.com, and her writing continues to connect with readers drawn to emotionally honest, finely crafted work. 

Currently, she is developing two novels while continuing to publish both poetry and short fiction works that explore the contradictions of being human—grief and resilience, tenderness and irony, the quiet absurdities that sit beneath the surface of ordinary life.
